Introduction.
There have been some recent inquiries about Dale Turner since he began his affiliate marketing online company WISHED-FOR.COM. This blog post is a response to those inquires!
Background.
Dale Richard Turner was born in Akron, Ohio on April 11, 1942, at “People’s Hospital” (now Akron General Hospital). He was raised on the North side of Akron and graduated from North High School in 1960. He attended Malone College in Canton, Ohio and graduated in 1964 with a B.A. in Religion with minors in Greek and Philosophy. He went from there to Seminary studying at Evangelical Theological Seminary in Naperville, Illinois. (Now Garret Theological Seminary). He also studied at Wynona Lake School of Theology under Dr. Carl F. H. Henry PhD, ThD Editor of Christianity Today Magazine and Dr. Meryl Westphal (PhD. Yale). He graduated from Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky in 1968 with a M.Div. He has done some Doctor of Ministry studies at Methodist Theological School in Ohio, some MBA courses at Ashland University, Ohio, and some graduate work in group process and analysis at Kent State University. He was licensed as an E.U.B. pastor in 1963 and ordained as a United Methodist pastor in 1968. He has served as a Lead Pastor, District Superintendent, and Visitation Pastor during the years since 1963. Dale loves woodworking, fishing with his children and grandchildren, playing in chess tournaments, producing watercolor paintings and playing all kinds of table games with family and friends.
Lois Ruth Turner (Schwarzwalder) the Love of Dale’s Life!
Lois was born on September 3, 1941, in Wooster, Ohio. She grew up on a nearby farm and graduated from Big Prairie High School in 1959. She attended Taylor University and then graduated from Malone College with a B.S. degree in music education in 1963. She and Dale were married on July 7, 1963, when Dale began his ministry as an E.U.B./United Methodist Pastor. Lois began her career as a elementary music teacher in East Liverpool, Ohio that same year. In 1964 she and Dale moved to Deedsville Indiana where they continued their careers as teacher and pastor while Dale completed his seminary work. Lois loves to play the piano and has given piano lessons from time to time. Lois loves people and is a “hugger”. She especially loves children. Later in her career she became a special education teacher and a reading recovery teacher with a heart for helping special needs children. Lois has a ministry of nurture and often sends notes to people and has supportive telephone conversations with people in need. Above all she is a hugger! She reaches out to people wherever she goes and gives them hugs! Above all she is the major love and support for Dale who could do nothing without her!
Dale and Lois are Cat Lovers.
One of their favorite cats is their calico cat named Lucky!
Dale has a passion for small groups.
He has done extensive study in that area. He participated in graduate studies in “group process and analysis” at Kent State University. Home and Family
He lives in Wadsworth Ohio with his wife Lois. They have been together in marriage and ministry since 1963. They have three grown children Ruth Ann, Ronetta and Paul and four grandchildren, Leora, Thomas, Aurie, and Caleb. Dale and Lois love to travel and have been tour hosts with Educational Opportunities taking tour groups to Israel, Egypt, Oberammergau and the Baltics. They have a weekly Friday night table game night at their home for their children and grandchildren.
Midwest Institute for Human Understanding.
From 1974 to 1978 Dale trained as a therapist for individual and group therapy under Dr. William H. Holloway M.D. and staff at the Midwest Institute for Human Understanding. He was trained in the use of Transactional Analysis and other contemporary counselling models. He co-led a supervised TA group for several years and passed the written exam for clinical membership in the International Transactional Analysis (TA) Association.

For eight years Dale served on the Congregational Development Committee of East Ohio Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church under the leadership of Directors Dr. Craig Hunter and Dr. Woody Davis. During those years he participated in planning events for the North Central Jurisdictional Congregational Development Network and for the National Congregational Development network of the United Methodist Church.
Church Growth with Integrity.
During the years from 1992 to 1996 Dale helped design, organize, host and lead the training of thirty East Ohio United Methodist Pastors as Church Growth with Integrity Consultants based on The Church Growth Handbook authored by Pastor Bill Easum. The training was led by Pastor Bill Easum and Dr. Stanley Menking. Dale hosted the initial group at Poland United Methodist Church. Two subsequent training groups where hosted by The East Ohio Annual Conference in coordination with Dr. Craig Hunter and Dr. Woody Davis both Directors of Congregational Development. As a result, 120 East Ohio Churches participated in Church Growth with Integrity Consultations.
Leadership Academy.
East Ohio Conference, 1997 through 1999. Dale helped design, create, organize and lead this two-year Academy featuring nine presenters covering a wide spectrum of leadership topics and skills. Sixty-four pastors participated in these extensive sessions. Many have shared that this was one of the most outstanding experiences that helped shape their entire ministerial lives. Featured leaders included Pastor Don Cummings, Pastor Howard Humphress, Executive Michael Roggow, Pastor Tim Walker, Pastor Bill Easum, Lay Ministry Director Tammy Kelly, Dr. George Hunter, Pastor Tyrone Gordon, and Pastor Dale Turner.
Poland United Methodist Church.
Dale pastored this local church from 1991 to 1998. During those years 300 people completed Disciple Bible Study. Forty-two people became Stephen Ministers serving 110 care receivers. Logos Kids Club was formed on Wednesdays after school serving over 100 children and youth. A new small group ministry was formed called TLC Groups that included 100 participants. Two new worship services were added resulting in three Sunday morning services. One of those services called JAM (Jesus and Me) was a youth service featuring a youth praise team and a full-time youth pastor.
Menking and Associates.
For almost a decade from 2005 to 2015 Dale worked with Dr. Stanley Menking by leading an annual three-day seminar on small groups and local church leadership skills. The seminars were presented to 150 pastors from annual conferences including Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.
Educational Opportunities.
Dale and wife Lois have been touring hosts with Educational Opportunities. They have hosted tour groups to Israel, Egypt, The Baltic Sea area. and twice to the Passion Play in Oberammergau.
Consulting Activities.
Altogether Dale has consulted with or trained consultants to work with over 400 local churches.
